What Customers Say About Sony TDM-IP1 Digital Media Port iPod Dock:

The TDM-IP1 can play video but it's a bit of a nightmare. That said. I like this product and I am glad I own it. It must be directly connected to the Television.

I paid hardly anything for it so I have nothing to gripe about ($30 when circuit city went under). My TDM-IP1 is connected to my receiver STR-DA4400ES and plays through Focal Dome satellite speakers. The Media Cross Bar interface isn't as fluid as the PS3 but it does the job. First let me start by saying. Because this accessory connects via DMPORT, my receiver must be set to DMPORT. Ipod MPEG-4 is a pain to convert to and they are larger files. if you're considering this product and have a PS3 hooked up to a home network, do yourself a favor and invest in a DLNA compatible media hard drive instead.

This means I cannot connect the custom y video cord (headphone like jack plugs into TDM-IP1) to my receiver. (Great for Ipod bad for anything else). If you want to have this just for music it's great. Second let me say. Giant pain in the ass. Your PS3 can access your entire music library including album covers.

This Ipod dock cannot. Again if you have a PS3 you can stream video from the network hard drive. not practical for video at all.If you can get it cheap buy it, if not you're not missing much.

This item is great(Sony TDM-IP1 Digital Media Port iPod Dock ), i just got it yeaterday and hooked it up , OMG.i love it , the sound is great and i can use my remote control to switch music on my IPOD NANO. in the past i was hooking up my IPOD to my xbox 360 and boy that was a pain , turn the tv on , turn the xbox on , turn the reciever on then the IPOD. now all i do is turn on my reciever via DMport and use the remote and BAM i have music.I have a SONY surround system which is great this completes my hole entertainment system. if you can find this item for under $100.00 i say buy it.

I bought a Sony STR-DG910 and figured I needed to buy this thing so I would be compatible when I finally got an i-pod larger than my shuffle. My kids have used it a few times with their i-pods and it seems to work OK, but the i-pod control and display are not that convenient and I have not yet upgraded my i-pod. I was a little disappointed about how much this thing cost.I installed an old airport express into my home theater system and now my kids play their i-tunes music library on their computer through the home theater system using their i-pod touch as the remote control - much cooler than using this contraption. That is probably the way I am going to go, so I guess I now have an expensive i-pod charger - maybe not, we will see.

It turned out that both of our newer gen iPods worked just fine. I purchased this so that my wife and I could play our iPod collections through our surround sound system. One thing I've noticed is that if you keep your iPod docked in it, after you turn your receiver off, the iPod sometimes stays on, and you manually have to turn it off. It works wonderfully, the setup was easy, and its a great price. The only thing that worried me when I received the packaging was that it wasn't compatible with either of our iPods, even though it said so on the website, or didn't imply that it wasn't compatible. Not a huge issue, because once you turn your receiver back on, the power returns to the unit, and recharges the iPod itself. I am very glad I made this purchase, and would highly recommend it to anyone that has a Sony setup for their home theatre system.

I love using the IPOD Port with my Sony HT. Of course, the IPOD is also charging while connected. No regrets. You can navigate through your IPOD using the remote while viewing your playlists on the TV screen. I couldn't find it in stores, and when I did, they wanted $60. Got for less than $40 from Amazon.
